General Information

Visiting the Campus

Directions on how to get to the campus are provided here. If you plan on visiting the campus, stop by the office to get more information or just to introduce yourself. More information can be found on the University’s website: http://www.umich.edu/~info/visiting.html.

Campus Tours

Tours of North and Central Campus can be scheduled. The majority of the classes for engineering are on North Campus. Information on scheduling tours can be found here:
North Campus- http://www.engin.umich.edu/about/tourform.html
Central Campus- http://events.embark.com/event/umich/ugrad/on_campus/

Parking

Parking on North Campus is regulated. There are meters in the Pierpont Commons parking lot. This is a good location to park as most of the buildings on North Campus are within walking distance from the InterPro offices. The meters are $0.80 per hour.

The buses run frequently and take students to and from Central Campus. The southbound commuter bus will take students all the way to the Michigan Union. The Northwood bus will only take students to the C.C. Little building before heading back to North Campus. More information on the various bus schedules and routes can be found here: http://www.transportation.umich.edu/transit/bus_routes/index.html

Housing

North Campus has several different housing options ranging from the on-campus housing options (the Vera Baits Houses and Northwood Family housing) as well as off-campus apartments and a co-op. Check the housing website for more information http://www.housing.umich.edu/.

Places to Eat

On North Campus, there are a couple of different places to eat or grab coffee (http://www.umich.edu/~commons/food.html). In the Pierpont Commons, there is a cafeteria style eatery called The Commons Cafe that serves lunch from 11:30am to 2pm (http://www.umich.edu/~commcafe/), as well as the Earl of Sandwich, an Espresso Royale Cafe and a McDonald’s/Freshens. There are also restaurants and fast food eateries off of Plymouth Road which borders North Campus to the north. Central Campus has a host of restaurants throughout. In the Michigan Union there is a food court with a Villa Pizza, Mrs. Fields, Wendy’s, Subway, and Magic Wok. (http://www.umich.edu/~munion/food.html)

To find out about the student services that North Campus provides, check out the Pierpont Commons website: http://www.umich.edu/~commons/. North Campus has its own bookstore, U of M Credit Union, Entrée Office, and Registrar’s Office.
