Integrated Microsystems - Admission

Prerequisites

Professionals who are employed in technology-related activities, or recent graduates with the science or engineering degrees, may be admitted into the program. Some specific admissin requirements include:

  • An undergraduate degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, or mathematics
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and/or industrial experience are strongly recommended.

Admission Deadlines

  • The deadline for applying:
    Fall term (September) enrollment, International Applicants: April 1, Domestic Applicants: July 1.
    Winter term (January) enrollment, International Applicants: September 15, Domestic Applicants: October 15.

Tuition and Fees

Financial Aid

  • There is no financial aid available from the program. Students are encouraged to secure financial aid through national fellowship programs, through company employee education programs, etc. For more information, please refer to the University of Michigan Financial Aid web site: http://www.finaid.umich.edu.

  • For test score identification, the institution code for the University of Michigan is R1839.

GRE Requirements

  • The GRE is not required but recommended. If you are applying for financial aid, then the general portion of the GRE is required. For test score identification, the institution code for the University of Michigan is R1839. GRE Quantitative portion should be 700 or above, the GRE Analytical Writing portion should be between 4 - 6.

English Proficiency

Applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency. Applicants are required to provide an official score report from either the Michigan English Language Battery (MELAB), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing Systems (IELTS), or the Examination for the Michigan Certificate of Proficiency in English (ECPE). Photocopies and/or faxes of IELTS, TOEFL, or ECPE scores will not be accepted. The College of Engineering requires the following minimum requirements for admission consideration (some programs of study may have higher minimum score requirements):

Applicants who are required, as a condition of admission, to have their English re-evaluated by taking the Academic English Evaluation (AEE) cannot register for academic courses until the evaluation is complete. You should arrive in Ann Arbor in plenty of time to have the re-evaluation completed before classes begin.

Applicants who have earned a degree from an institution where the language of instruction is exclusively English, (i.e. U.S., United Kingdom, Australia) are exempt from submitting a MELAB, TOEFL, IELTS, or ECPE score
